How it works

Four simple steps, every single week.

  1. Step 1: You give

Any amount, one-time or monthly. Every $50 buys 40 lb of dog food.

  2. Step 2: Your name scrolls

Your name, or your organization's, rides our banner all month long.

  3. Step 3: We bag & bless

We portion the kibble and label every bag β€œa blessing from” a donor.

  4. Step 4: Sunday drop-off

Bags go to people in Pittsburgh shelters who have dogs, then onto Instagram.

A blessing from you

Your name on the bag &on Instagram

Every donor's name (yours, your family's, your business or club) is printed on bag labels as β€œa blessing from” you. Dog owners see who's looking out for them, and when they say yes, we snap a photo for Instagram so you can watch your gift turn into dinner.

Why we do this

Dogs are family, in a home or in a shelter.

Our promise

No dog goes hungry

People in shelters keep their dogs. They're family, security, and a reason to keep going. Those dogs deserve full bowls too. We don't gatekeep: if someone in a Pittsburgh shelter has a dog and needs food, we help.

FAQs

Quick answers about where your money goes and how the blessings work.

Where does my donation go?

Into dog food. $50 buys a 40 lb sack, which we split into about 32 zip bags of 4–5 cups, label, and hand out on Sundays at Pittsburgh shelters. Card processing (about 2.9% + 30Β’) comes out first.

How does my name end up on a bag?

Everyone who opts in at checkout joins that month's names. We print them on bag labels as β€œa blessing from” you, and your name scrolls across our homepage banner for the whole month.

Can my business or group donate?

Yes! Type your organization's name at checkout and it goes on the banner and the bag labels just like a person's name.

Will I see a photo of my bag?

We try! When a dog owner says yes, we photograph the bag and post it on Instagram, so follow @pawdianangels and watch for your name. We never photograph anyone without permission.

Who receives the food?

Anyone staying in a Pittsburgh homeless shelter who has a dog and needs food. No paperwork, no gatekeeping.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Not yet. Our nonprofit filing is in progress, and we'll update this page as soon as it's approved.
